You should avoid strenuous activities that cause sweating, an increased heart rate, or pressure on the face for at least 6 weeks. Light walking is recommended. Recovery times can vary, so it’s important to follow your surgeon’s guidance to ensure a safe and successful recovery.

Your dressing, along with two small drains, will be removed the day after surgery. At this point, you may shower and wash your hair. You will be supplied with Cerave face wash to use on your face and hair for two full weeks. Please do not use your regular shampoo and conditioner until 2 weeks post-surgery.

You can color your hair 6 weeks after surgery.

It is important for us to monitor your post surgery progress. The ideal timeline for follow up appointments is: 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year. Of course there are instances patients request or need to be seen outside of these standard guidelines. Our office will work with your particular needs and be here every step of the way.

Most patients are allowed to resume using their normal skin care regimen and makeup/hair products after two weeks.  Eyelashes can be discussed on a case by case basis.

Alcoholic drinks can be resumed when you are no longer taking pain medication as this can cause adverse side effects. Alcohol acts as a blood thinner and can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising. It is recommended to abstain for several weeks during the healing process.

If you have had a rhinoplasty, you will need to wait 6 weeks before wearing glasses or sunglasses. If you have had a blepharoplasty you are cleared to resume wearing contact lenses around two weeks after surgery.  Regarding earrings; some patients may no longer have their piercings after surgery. If you do, it is recommended to wait two weeks before wearing and avoid heavy earrings if possible.

Botox can usually be resumed at the 2-3 month mark. With fillers, timing is dependent upon if you have had fat grafting. It typically takes 6-9 months to see the full result of fat grafting. If you have had  a lip lift, lip filler should be avoided for 3-6 months. We will evaluate each patient on an individual basis.
