If you have recently been diagnosed with a skin cancer of your face, we recommend our patients seek the care of a Mohs Surgeon. These surgically trained dermatologists can excise the skin cancer while minimizing the defect size. Despite this extra time and attention to keeping the defect size small, defects can be challenging to close given the proximity to important structures such as the eyes, nose, and mouth. Closures are typically performed by me the next day after the Mohs excision.
A combination of skin grafts or local advancement flaps may be used to achieve the best results. Consultations may be performed prior to undergoing excision so that you can know what to expect before the skin cancer is removed. I work with some of the best Mohs surgeons in the DFW area to achieve the best surgical removal and repair for your facial cancer. See my Facial Reconstruction Page for more information.
