Thin Lips

Some people are born with thinner lips than other people, but WE ALL develop thinning of the lips as we age. The upper lip continues to lengthen and the red lip becomes lower and less noticeable. Both lips also lose volume over time which causes less red lip to show as well as  the annoying “lipstick lines” causing lipstick to run.

Absolutely! The determination of your best and most natural treatment option would be determined at your consultation. If your upper lip is long, adding additional filler may not be the best solution, but rather a surgical lip lift. Read below for more information.

Treatment Options

There are a number of very effective options for lip rejuvination including surgical as well as nonsurgical options.

  1. Lip Augmentation – Most commonly performed with Hyaluronic Acid Fillers (Restylane, Juvederm, etc), this is a quick, in-office method of adding volume to the lips.
  2. Lip Lift – In patients that have age-related or genetic elongation of the lip, a lip lift is a great, natural option for increasing the amount of red lip show. This procedure utilizes an incision hidden below the nose for lifting and shortening the skin of the upper lip. As a result, the cupid’s bow and vermilion border are elevated, showing more lip.
